December Dinner

10th December 2009

Peter Bowler

Last night we enjoyed the usual wonderful Christmas fare served by the Queens Hotel, which was followed by a very amusing and informative talk by our guest speaker, Peter Bowler, a Welshman by birth who learned his skills in Tasmania and became a formidable county cricketer in this country. His comedy would have graced the Music Halls and his tales of such stars as Malcolm Marshall, Devon Malcolm and Alan Donald amongst many others held us gripped to our seats. His final tale of coaching an eight year old Ricky Ponting and then in his last game sharing a double century stand with him was fascinating to say the least.

This was a memorable occasion and thanks are due to Peter for a superbly entertaining evening, the Queens for a lovely meal and all the donors of raffle prizes for a very successful Christmas draw.

A Happy Christmas to all and let's fill those tables in 2010.

The Society would like to express their thanks to Peter for coming and providing a great evenings entertainment.
