Last night we enjoyed the usual dinner served by the Queens Hotel, which was followed by a very amusing and informative talk by our guest speaker, Ray East, who played for Essex and who entertained us with many stories and tales of interesting characters and amusing incidents from his county cricket days. He reminded us just how different county cricket was in his playing days and commented that some of the (harmless) antics that he and others got up to would not be tolerated today which he thought was a shame. He confirmed that, despite gerneral belief, it was not he who cycled between fielding positions on the boundary during a county game.
The Society would like to thank Ray for a superb evening's entertainment and the Queens for a lovely meal.
